CICC Legal Intern

About the CICC

The Coalition for the International Criminal Court (CICC) includes 2,500 civil society organizations in 150 different countries working in partnership to strengthen international cooperation with the ICC; ensure that the Court is fair, effective and independent; make justice both visible and universal; and advance stronger national laws that deliver justice to victims of war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide.

The Internship

This internship is with WFM’s Coalition for the International Criminal Court (CICC). The Legal Section in New York is now accepting applications for one to two interns to assist the CICC with a range of legal projects. Interns will report to the CICC NY Legal Officer. The internship can be full-time or part-time (2-3 days per week) and must be for a period of 3-4 months. Please note that this internship is unpaid.

Responsibilities:

Monitor developments at the Assembly of States Parties and in the Bureau Working Groups, writing reports for CICC members Attend meetings and debates at the UN on thematic issues and country situations that relate to the ICC, reporting on the sessions for CICC members Perform legal research and reporting Undertake special projects and assignments as needed.

Qualifications:

-Law, graduate, or advanced undergraduate student working towards a BA in law, international relations,political science, history, area studies or related field;
-Excellent written and oral communication, research, organization and written skills
-Knowledge of the ICC
-Proficiency using Microsoft Office software
-Ability to work independently and within the constraints of tight deadlines
-Previous experience in a nonprofit environment preferred
-Proficiency in English; additional language proficiencies are a plus
-Interest in CICC’s mission
