CICC Membership Outreach Intern

Description
This internship is with the Coalition for the International Criminal Court (CICC). The intern will assist with the CICC’s global membership drive and outreach campaign. The intern will report to the CICC Program Assistant. The fall internship can be full-time or part-time (2-3 days per week) for a period of 3-4 months. Please note the internship is unpaid.

ABOUT THE COALITION: The Coalition is a network of over 2,000 civil society organizations from around the world, working together towards a common goal: the establishment of a fair, effective and independent International Criminal Court (ICC). The ICC is the first permanent Court with the mandate to bring to justice individuals who commit the most serious violations of international humanitarian law, namely genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes. Internship Responsibilities
*Please note that this internship includes administrative work. However, supervisors will make a concerted effort to see that there is a balance of programmatic and research-related work*
- Supporting efforts to increase the CICC’s global membership and collaboration with civil society worldwide.
- Assisting with major membership registration and database overhaul, including contacting long-time CICC members and following up with new members
- Conducting membership outreach, including sending out membership invitations to NGOs and constituencies, and collaborating with the CICC Regional Team and leading international human rights organizations to identify their global NGO partners
- Keeping abreast of membership registration figures and providing this information to the CICC Outreach Liaisons when requested
- Maintaining and updating membership database and archives
- Processing requests to join the Coalition
- Providing general administrative support to the Program Assistant, including word processing, filing, and faxing

Qualifications
*Please note that this internship is not suitable for individuals currently pursuing an advanced or graduate law degree*
- Advanced undergraduate or graduate student working towards a degree in International Relations, History, Political Science, Area Studies or related field
- Excellent written and oral communication, research and writing skills
- Knowledge of the ICC preferred
- Some experience in regional work or area studies, non-profit networking, and membership outreach beneficial
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office software and comfort using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access, in particular. No programming knowledge necessary.
- Basic Internet skills
- Ability to work independently and within the constraints of tight deadlines, and ability to take initiatives when needed
- Previous experience in a nonprofit environment preferred
- Proficiency in English, with strong preference to candidates with dual language proficiency, especially French and/or Spanish;
- Interest in CICC’s mission
