WFM-IGP IT Intern
The World Federalist Movement-Institute for Global Policy (WFM-IGP) is a global citizens' movement working for peace, conflict prevention, international justice and sustainable development. The International Secretariat (IS) of WFM-IGP is co-located in The Hague, the Netherlands and New York, USA and has ECOSOC consultative status with the United Nations. The IS is the administrative and coordinating body of WFM-IGP and its global network of Member and Associated Organizations. The IS serves and directs various programs and currently oversees the following projects: the Coalition for the International Criminal Court (CICC), the Responsibility to Protect - Engaging Civil Society (R2P-CS), ReformtheUN.org and UNElections.org, amongst others. The World Federalist Movement-Institute for Global Policy is currently seeking an intern, who will provide IT and web support for our office in New York. In these capacities, the IT Intern will report to the IT Consultant.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Assist in system maintenance, troubleshooting and analysis support of the current network system. Network protocols include TCP/IP, DHCP and AppleTalk.
• Troubleshooting of server/client-based network
• Designing and developing relational database systems, including any possible use of MS SQL or other relational database systems
• Streamlining the data-warehouse and developing web applications
• Integrating security policies and file backup
• Web-enabling office resources for anonymous, registered and restricted use
• Incorporating email and web resources into a coherent community-oriented website
• Assist with the design and development of the organization’s websites
• Assist with the maintenance and development of phone system
• Assist with the maintenance of the organization’s websites
• Assist with the design of the organization’s publications
• HelpDesk/troubleshooting for New York and branch offices
• Troubleshooting and prevention related to IT and IT-related issues
• Enforce company wide network and hardware policies
• Other services as agreed
Qualifications
• Microsoft Server/Client operating systems
• PHP, JavaScript, and CSS
• Exchange server
• Proficiency in the administration of Microsoft Windows XP/2003/7
• Microsoft Office Suites 2003 Professional and later
• Symantec Antivirus Software
• Proficiency in Windows Operating Systems
• TCP/IP and Windows Networking
• Telecommunications, Teleconferencing, and Audio/Video systems
• Fluent oral and written communication skills in English
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with users.
