    Regional Federalism

  • Strides towards building and strengthening regional governance structures along federal lines are being made throughout all regions of the world: Africa - African Union (AU), the Americas - Organization of American States (OAS), Asia – Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). WFM supports these efforts to create democratic, transparent and effective regional institutions and monitor these regional developments.

    European Union
WFM is working closely with WFM Member Organization the Union of European Federalists in their efforts to create a more democratic, empowered European Union. In particular, we have worked with European world federalist colleagues in monitoring the writing of the European Constitution.

    African Union

With the African Union’s inauguration of the Pan African Parliament in March 2004, a milestone for regional federalism was set. By representing the peoples of Africa, the Pan African Parliament promotes unity and stability in the continent. WFM has monitored the development of the African Union and will continue to advocate for the strengthening of this institution.
