The World Federalist Movement- Institute for Global Policy would like to congratulate the winners of the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize, notably Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Liberian peace activist Leymah Gbowee, and Yemeni pro- democracy campaigner Tawakkul Karman. This year, the Prize was awarded to the three women “for their non-violent struggle for the safety of women and for women’s rights to full participation in peace-building work.” The Norwegian Nobel Committee sends a strong message of gender equality, as well as advocating the invaluable role that women play in representing peace and democracy.
