In this workshop, Dr. James Arputharaj will give a presentation on developing project concept notes.
Dr. James Arputharaj WILLIAMS is a professional Manager and served as CEO with leading INGOs like Action Aid, Oxfam, Lutheran World Relief amongst others providing leadership at national, regional and international levels. He has lived and worked in India, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and South Sudan over the last 2 decades. He had brought in institutional stability to the INGOs that he worked for both in terms of diversifying resources and promoting innovative programmes. His record in fund-raising was while working in Afghanistan with Oxfam when he raised along with the team about USD 10 million in 6 months. He was elected by the NGO community in Afghanistan to serve on the Advisory Board of CHF – Common Humanitarian Fund (pool fund contributed by 9 countries) and reviewing project applications for funding UN agencies and NGOs with annual budget of 87 Million $. Currently he works as Country Director of Asian Youth Centre in Sri Lanka addressing climate change. He has PhD degree in Social Policy and hails from Chennai, India.
James has been passionate of peace, justice and controls arms issues. He was a NGO speaker at the I UN conference on small arms and light weapon held at UN, NY in 2001, travelled to 54 countries and has a dozen books to his credit.
James served on the Intl EC of WFM during 1995 and 2018 and is President of South Asian Federalists.
