Bente Nielsen

Treasurer (Denmark)

Bente Nielsen joined the WFM/IGP Executive Committee in 1994 and currently serves as the Joint Chair and Treasurer.

Bente is a former Member of Parliament and previously served as the President of the Danish United Nations Association for many years. She currently serves as CIO in the Danish Environmental Agency. 

Bente holds a PhD in Environmental Law. 

Bente is Danish and is based in Vig – the western part of Zealand, Denmark. She speaks Danish as her native language, fluent English, and intermediary French and German. 

What do you like most about being a member of WFM/IGP’s Board?

“Being a part of a Board with so many different people coming from abroad the World and with such a diversity in skills and talents.”

Why are you a World Federalist

“I believe in global governance and a world governed by Rule of Law. A lot of problems are worldwide and do not respect borders for which reason we have to cooperate in international organizations regionally and worldwide. I also believe that world governance should be founded in democracy.”

What is the future you are working towards?

“A world governed in respect for human rights and Rule of Law. A world in peace where people can live and fulfill their expectations for a better life.”
