John Vlasto is based in London, UK, and joined the WFM/IGP Executive Committee in 2021.
John graduated in philosophy and mathematics before serving in the British Army. He then worked in finance, in derivatives and hedge funds. He has always enjoyed climbing rocks and mountains, where he has seen first-hand the dramatic impact of climate change.
Increasingly concerned that humanity is not looking after its planet, he returned to university to study global politics at the London School of Economics. He now works with fellow activists to realize the vision of a sustainable, just and peaceful world through more effective and accountable global governance.
Why are you a world federalist?
A world federation would enable the global unity necessary to address global challenges, while preserving and celebrating the maximum of human diversity – unity without uniformity, diversity without fragmentation.
What is the future you are working towards?
A sustainable, just, and peaceful world through democratic world federation. A world run by humanity, for humanity, providing equal opportunity to all on a thriving planet.
