Virginie Amato

Regional Coordinator for Europe (Brussels) 

Virginie Amato joined WFM/IGP in 2008 first as Senior Programme Officer and now as the Regional Coordinator for Europe.

Prior to this role, Virginie held the positions of Senior Programme Officer and Programme Officer for Europe at WFM/IGP. Her thematic expertise is in international justice and international humanitarian law; strategic human rights advocacy; EU policy and institutional landscape; and civil society and human rights defenders.

Virginie holds a Master’s degree in International and European Law focusing on international criminal and humanitarian law and a Law degree from Aix-Marseille Paul Cézanne University in France. She also studied at Milano-Bicocca University in Milan, Italy. 

Virginie is French and is based in Brussels. She speaks English, French, Italian, Spanish, and is currently learning Russian.
